Health Walks

Take Heart offers regular health walks. We are one of nine fabulous health walks offered by Chesterfield Walk This Way Network Group. These walks are accredited by the Walking for Health Initiative which is the largest national body promoting led health walks. This is a Natural England initiative. We have trained volunteer walk leaders who can take you on safe and enjoyable health walks in beautiful places around the district. We prepare walks of two levels of ability, our longer walk is usually of up to 2 hours duration and is designed for the fitter members of the group, and the shorter walk is of course for the less able members and is up to 1 hour in length. All walks are risk assessed prior to the actual walk

We meet on a Sunday Morning around 9.30am for a 10.00am start; we try to pick locations where we can get refreshments and use of facilities. Walkers are invited to join us afterwards for Sunday Lunch/carvery and some friendly banter at a nearby local pub/restaurant.

All of our regular walkers are supplied with a full programme of the planned walks.

Of course our health walks are a perfect way for heart patients to continue with their rehabilitation after they have left hospital, we always walk to the pace of our slowest member and everyone is friendly and supportive.

There is no charge for walking with us; all you need is good shoes and clothing to suit as we walk all year round.
